At 100 years of age, Abby Lee MacKay is interviewed by a young reporter from the local paper who refers to her as living in much simpler times. Abby Lee asks, "How would you define simpler?" as she thoughtfully reflects on the horrors of World War I, the flu epidemic of 1918, the depression of the 1920's and the changes as her children grow up and move away. When the reporter remarks about how hard it must have been to outlive so many people she cared about, Abby Lee's reply reflects the peace she has learned throughout her life.
